My years of experience has shown me that women often make better decisions about money than men. Women and men do think differently about money. That’s a good thing! It means more than one facet of retirement planning is often considered and discussed.
When it comes to couples evaluating Social Security strategies (and pension plan options), women should be more involved to balance choice between monthly benefits today, versus monthly benefits for tomorrow (as survivor).

Women should decide the Social Security strategy (for couples; women by default do when their single. Divorced, Widowed, Remarried, and other considerations are other factors many women may not be aware of, especially choosing and switching benefits if their situation allows).
When it comes to planning, I’m always looking at women longevity as a primary planning factor, single or married!
